Rate-Adaptive Concatenated Multi-Level Coding With Novel Probabilistic Amplitude Shaping

چکیده

This paper proposes a new probabilistic amplitude shaping (PAS) approach for concatenated two-level multi-level coding (MLC). The proposed system is based on forward error correction (FEC) scheme where outer codes are serially with inner MLC. MLC has recently been shown to have potential achieving better performance-complexity trade-offs than the conventional bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM). Meanwhile, PAS demonstrated offer remarkable performance gains as well rate adaptivity. However, majority of existing works assume use binary reflected Gray code bit-labeling, and its application schemes other bit-labelings, such MLC, may not be straightforward. In this paper, we devise bit-labeling propose structure an efficient integration systems. More specifically, generate signed symbols distribution matcher (DM) maximizing both achieved by PAS, respectively, while generates xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">unsigned symbols. It simulation results that, 256QAM polar codes, simultaneously offers 75% reduction in number required encoding soft-decision (SD) decoding operations given FEC lengths, up 0.3 dB gain over scheme.

A Mismatched Joint Source-Channel Coding Perspective of Probabilistic Amplitude Shaping: Achievable Rates and Error Exponents

Probabilistic Amplitude Shaping (PAS) is a novel method of reliable commmunication over channels with non-uniform capacity achieving input distribution. The encoder of PAS is a concatenation of a distribution matcher with systematic encoding of a Forward Error Correction (FEC) code whereas the PAS decoder is a concatenation of a mismatched FEC decoder and dematcher. In recent works PAS has been...

Adaptive Concatenated Coding for Wireless Real-Time Communications

The objective of this thesis is to improve the performance of real-time communication over a wireless channel, by means of specifically tailored channel coding. The deadline dependent coding (DDC) communication protocol presented here lets the timeliness and the reliability of the delivered information constitute quality of service (QoS) parameters requested by the application. The values of th...

Channel Coding Techniques for Adaptive Multi Rate Speech Transmission

A variable channel coding scheme for Adaptive Multi Rate (AMR) speech transmission over mobile radio channels is proposed. Although it was developed for the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), the basic concept of variable channel coding can be adopted to other digital radio systems. The new AMR concept allows almost wire-line speech quality even for poor channel conditions by dynami...
